PathPin does not calculate a safe route
Direct guidance shows relative direction and distance. It does not understand roads, pavements, doors, walls, fences, floors, bridges, rivers, cliffs, construction, private property, opening hours, or access restrictions. A destination may be physically close while the safe route to it is much longer.
GPS quality changes
GPS generally performs best outdoors with a clear view of the sky. Buildings, roofs, underground areas, dense terrain, and reflected signals can make an inaccurate position appear precise. PathPin uses GPS quality checks, but no quality indicator guarantees that a position is correct.
Compass direction can be disturbed
Metal structures, vehicles, magnets, speakers, electronic equipment, power systems, and device calibration can rotate or destabilise the compass heading. Hold the phone as instructed, compare the arrow with known surroundings, and move away from interference before trusting it.
Motion and step estimates drift
When GPS becomes weak, motion sensors can estimate progress but cannot independently establish an exact indoor position. Different walking styles, phone placement, lifts, stairs, pauses, vibration, and sensor hardware can create error. Tagged physical Spots are reference reminders, not automatically recognised objects.
Altitude and floor estimates are limited
Compatible devices may use pressure or altitude changes as supporting context. Weather, ventilation, calibration, and hardware can affect readings. Do not treat a floor or elevation estimate as a verified level, basement, or emergency-exit instruction.
Use a backup when consequences matter
- Carry an official map, marked route, written directions, or another suitable navigation method.
- Tell someone where you are going when entering remote or unfamiliar places.
- Follow venue, trail, workplace, and emergency signage.
- Contact local emergency services when safety is at risk.
- Test PathPin in a familiar place before using it somewhere difficult.
Do not operate the app while moving unsafely
Stop in a safe place before interacting with PathPin. Do not use it while driving, cycling, crossing traffic, operating machinery, climbing, or performing another task requiring full attention.
Report a safety concern
Email support@pathpin.site with your device model, Android version, relevant sensor status, and a description of what occurred. Avoid including private coordinates unless necessary.
