Terms of Use

The conditions and important limitations that apply when using PathPin.

Effective 11 August 2026

These Terms of Use apply to the PathPin Android application and the website at pathpin.site. By downloading, accessing, or using PathPin, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use PathPin.

1. What PathPin provides

PathPin is a navigation aid that can save device coordinates, display compass and distance guidance, record available GPS breadcrumbs, and let you tag memorable Spots along a Route. Features depend on your device, Android version, granted permissions, sensors, location services, surrounding environment, and third-party system services.

2. Not a map, emergency service, or safety guarantee

PathPin does not calculate road, walking, hiking, or obstacle-aware routes. A displayed direction may point across a wall, road, restricted area, water, cliff, private property, or other unsafe or impassable place.

Do not rely on PathPin as your only navigation method in an emergency, wilderness area, hazardous workplace, unfamiliar building, underground location, or any situation where inaccurate guidance could cause injury, loss, or damage. Follow signs, laws, access restrictions, official guidance, and what you can safely observe.

3. Accuracy and availability

GPS, compass, motion, step, pressure, and altitude readings are estimates and may be delayed, unavailable, or incorrect. Buildings, terrain, roofs, weather, metal, magnets, vehicles, electronics, device orientation, calibration, battery settings, and hardware differences may affect results.

PathPin may indicate that GPS quality is limited or that arrival cannot be confirmed. You remain responsible for deciding whether information is reliable enough for your circumstances.

4. Safe and lawful use

Use PathPin only when it is safe and lawful to look at or operate your device. Do not interact with the app while driving, cycling, crossing traffic, operating machinery, or performing another activity requiring your full attention. Do not trespass or enter restricted or unsafe areas based on PathPin guidance.

5. Your saved information

You are responsible for the names, voice notes, coordinates, and other content you save or share. Avoid recording confidential or sensitive information unless you understand the risks. Keep alternative records when losing a Pin or Route would create a serious problem.

6. Permissions and third-party services

Some features require Android permissions, including location, physical activity, notifications, or microphone access. Optional speech-to-text may use the recognition service configured on your device. Shared coordinates are handled by the receiving app you select. Third-party products and services are governed by their own terms.

7. Acceptable use

You must not misuse PathPin, attempt to interfere with its operation, use it to violate another person's privacy or rights, reverse engineer it except where applicable law permits, or use the website or support channel to distribute harmful, unlawful, or abusive material.

8. Intellectual property

PathPin, its logo, interface, website, text, and related materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable right to use the app for its intended purpose.

9. Changes, suspension, and availability

Features may be changed, improved, limited, or discontinued. The app or website may occasionally be unavailable. We may suspend access where necessary to protect users, comply with law, or address misuse.

10. Disclaimer

To the extent permitted by applicable law, PathPin is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties that it will always be accurate, uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for a particular journey or purpose. Rights that cannot legally be excluded remain unaffected.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the PathPin developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss arising from use of or inability to use PathPin, including loss caused by inaccurate location, heading, route, distance, step, or altitude information. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

12. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated when PathPin changes or when legal or operational requirements change. The effective date above will be updated when revised terms are published.
